Ivana MARKOVIĆ (f) is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Law and Policy of Suppressing Crime at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law. She holds a PhD, obtained in 2017 at the University of Belgrade, in the field of substantial criminal law, as well as two master degrees from the same Faculty; one in criminal law; the other one in international law. Both LL.M.`s can be linked to, or directly adress the issue of gender studies. “Substantial Criminal Law of the European Union” provides an overview and analysis of current and forthcoming issues in the development of Criminal Law of the EU, which has and will have further impact on the Serbian legislator. The second master thesis, “Gender Equality in the Jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights” is the result of a personal interest in this topic, having in mind the ongoing debates on whether and to what extent equality has actually been achieved so far. She has participated, or is still participating in the following international projects: 1. „Warning on Crime“, Law Department of the University of Turin, in partnership with Amapola – progetti per la sicurezza delle persone e delle comunità, the Catholic University of Lyon, Maastricht University and the Romanian Center for European Policies, 2014 – 2016; 2. “New Technologies and Fight against Terrorism and Hate Speech in an European Perspective”, Università di Verona, Italy, 2017 – now; 3. “Carl Friedrich Goerdeler-Kolleg for Good Governance”, German Council on Foreign Relations and Robert Bosch Foundation, 2018 – 2019. She is an Alumna of the International Parliamentary Scholarship of the German Bundestag and an active member of the DAAD Alumni club of the University of Belgrade.
